So you have decided you need someone to help you buy or rent. What should you be looking for and what questions should you be asking?
Experience is one. Property Vision was established in 1983. We have been growing steadily ever since and no one has more knowledge of the niche markets that we operate in. We are the market leader and have been setting the standards in the business of advising buyers since we started. We have been owned by HSBC Private Bank since 2001.
Independence is another. We are not estate agents or the buying arm of an estate agent. Why is this important? Firstly, because we don’t think you can act for a client on both sides at the same time. Secondly, we would not get the information that we do from estate agents if we were competing with them for sales. Common sense really.
Size matters too. We have more people covering a wider area in London, the country-house market and in France than anyone else by some margin. This matters less if your area focus is very narrow but is key if your brief is wider. In London, for instance, we have a team of twenty-five people and find it hard to conceive of being able to cover this huge market with less.
Then there is integrity. Easy to talk about and difficult to find. None of our staff are paid by commission because we believe we have to tell our clients what not to buy or rent. We endeavour to advise our clients as if they were our friends.
We compare the fact that we get to the best properties first and provide intelligent and experienced advice on the negotiation process to a bank providing accurate statements or a restaurant offering clean washrooms – if we don’t do this, we aren’t even in the game. What we strive to be is what one of our clients called ‘the best service that I have ever experienced’. Our measuring stick is not our competition, but the greatest service businesses in the world and the ability to act for the most interesting and discerning clients in the market.
